About the United Jewish Fund and Council

For thousands of years, the Jewish people have had a tradition of taking care of those in need. That tradition continues through the United Jewish Fund and Council of St. Paul. Every day, our work is felt by millions both here in greater St. Paul and throughout the world.

Working with our
beneficiary agencies the UJFC nurtures and educates our children, maintains and strengthens Jewish families, brings comfort and care to the elderly, and reinforces our connection to the worldwide Jewish community.

Serving the Vulnerable
As a community, we come together to care for our most vulnerable neighbors including Jewish elderly, families in distress, at risk youth, immigrants and those with special needs.

Education
The UJFC is committed to helping provide many different arenas for our Jewish youth to grow and flourish with a strong Jewish identity.  From supporting the Talmud Torah of St. Paul to Hillel at the University of Minnesota to Jewish Day Camps to scholarships and more, we hope to help build their connection to the great Jewish community we have here in St. Paul.

Israel/Overseas Programs
Through the work of our overseas beneficiary agencies the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), we are able to provide a safety net of services to Jews in need in 66 countries around the world.

Advocacy and Social Justice
The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, a UJFC beneficiary agency, promotes the Jewish community’s interest in the general population, educates and mobilizes the Jewish community for advocacy, and serves as the central public affairs voice of the Jewish community to elected officials, the media, government agencies, and other religious and ethnic groups.

Community Planning
Whether commissioning a demographic study of the St. Paul Jewish population, identifying priorities for future community development and growth, or allocating annual campaign funds to the community agencies, planning is a core function of the UJFC.
